Online Sales Pick Up
My sales report. I am very pleased to report that sales have increased on the website but also with eCrater and Bonanzle. I must say that I am pleasantly surprised with Bonanzle.
Bonanzle is fairly a new site. I have been registered on Bonanzle for two months now and I have not been charged any fees other than the Final Sale Fee. This is totally fair.
However, I was pleasantly surprised to see that without much effort I was able to sell 4 items. I only listed 10, mostly due to my busy schedule.
Therefore, I will open an account today for all to see. The last account I opened is for the company (partnership) I am no longer a part of. My id name will be Whateverebay. I have already registered my username, however, I am waiting for that email. Tick tock tick tock…..still waiting.
As for eCrater. OMG! You should list. I know that you can get traffic and make sales there. However, due to the recent state of the economy, I did not expect much traffic. I am happy to inform you that I was WRONG! Not only have sales, increased, we have seen an increase in email and special request. Yeah!!!
Once I am done posting this, I will also open an account today with eCrater. So, now , I am on my own. I will be working from home and only for me. I have enough inventory in the garage to start listing. I have my shipping accounts set up and packaging supplies.
Let, the adventures begin.

Mark Cuban ditched Mamma
Allegedly Cuban was sold 600,000 shares of Canadian search engine company Mamma.com in 2004.
Seems Cuban knew that stock price would fall when the offering was made public. Apparently, the same day Mark Cuban told his broker to sell of his shares of Mamma.com by doing so, Mark Cuban avoided loosing $750,000

SEC Files Insider Trading Charges Against Mark Cuban
Mark Cuban has been accused of insider Trading the Securities and exchange Commission filed a civil suit against Mark Cuban in federal court in Dallas. Mark Cuban is know of owning the Mavericks, Donald Trumps’ rival, but is also known in the blogsphere. This is a surprise. I am anxious to know what Mark Cuban’s stand is. Going Out of Business
Going out of business signs seems to be the Trend now. It is hard to see your favorite store close down due to the lack of sales. The idea of more people losing their job is heartbreaking. However, the last 2 weeks, I have been busy helping a friend of mine.
Tina had a small gift store in Las Vegas. Most of her sales came in from local residents.
Tina does not sell online. She had a very bad experience with a buyer online; which made her decide selling online was not for her.
I have been very busy and had not checked-in on Tina for some months. When I contacted her a few weeks ago, I was sad to know how much she was affected by the current economy.
The landlord for her retail space informed Tina, that he would serve her with the eviction papers, but would give her One Week to get her affairs in order before serving her. This of course is a kind action by the landlord.
Tina, had a lot of inventory in stock. She could not return the merchandise to her supplier as the grace period had expired.
With no money for advertisement or even money for the electrical bill for the month. It was hard to see the light at the end of tunnel.
So, we came up with a plan! We advertised on Craigslist for the last 10 days! Of course all her inventory was placed at rock bottom prices. This is what we did:
1) Mon-Wed we advertised on Craigslist for a Clearance SALE.
2) Thursday we cleaned up and sorted out what was left behind
3) Friday advertised on Craigslist for a FINAL Clearance SALE
4) Saturday had a garage sale at a friend’s house (due to Home Owners Association – we cannot hold garage Sales at our place of residence)
5) Sunday had a garage sale (same friends house)
6) Monday Final Sale at the Store
7) Tuesday cleaned out the store took inventory to her garage
Wednesday – Turned the keys over
9) Thursday she drove to Orange County to hold a Garage Sale at her Moms’ home
10) Friday – advertised on Craigslist and posted flyers
11) Sat – Sun Garage Sale
Of course I purchased some items to offer online. However, due to the urgency she had to get out of the retail location and make some money to make it through the holidays this was the best thing for her to do.
With all that she sold she can survive and focus on getting back up for at least 4 months. We factored in money for her kids, Misc, Holidays and for some new inventory.
I must say, Craigslist was the reason she was able to bring traffic to her store and the Garage Sales; both in Las Vegas and Orange County. Of course it helped that she drastically cut prices. The landlord allowed her some time to get out. This allowed her to hold a final sale and avoid being locked out and loosing it all.
Many of you may not have new inventory to hold such a sale. You may have items around your home. More and more people are holding garage sales at this time. Selling online is not for everyone. You can use the Free Classifieds such as Craigslist to announce your Sale or Garage Sale.
Craigslist was created for this very reason, to help the community. I must say that I am very grateful that we were able to get traffic the way we did.

DHL Closing Brings Room For Opportunities
DHL closing down domestic shipping in the USA hurts us as shipers and most of all the employees that will soon find themselves without a job. Accodring to DHL’s website starting 11/10/08 they will no longer ship any domestic packages unless you have an existing DHL account.
For existing DHL users, this affects you in many ways.You must contact DHL and confirm the dates service will end and how the will handle any lost or damage claims.
You will need to get used to using FedEx or UPS. If you are using them but do not ship large volume with them as you might have shipped with DHL contact your Account Manager for rates.
You can negotiate better rates. This is the time to contact FedEx and UPS and use this as leverage.
For the employees of DHL this is the time to contact FedEx, UPS and their subcontractors to get jobs. Or find a way to start your own delivery business and subcontract with the carriers. The majority of the carriers have hubs in Ohio. Time to contact everyone.
Back to domestic shipping. UPS and FedEx are the largest national ground shipping carriers. Open an account with them and get used to their system. Don’t forget you can also use USPS.
Finaly note: DHL terminating their services in the US hurts us in many areas. Now is the time to implement changes and find new avenues of revenue and shipping options.

If you have not heard of Craigslist then its time. Cragistlist is a Free online classified ads forum.
They have every category imaginable. Now, due to recent SPAMING by many sellers Craigslist has made it mandatory to register for an account in the SALE category.
Craigslist has millions of hits and this can potentially drive you some sales. You have nothing to lose. Just invest a few minutes of your time and enter your listings. Before you know it, you will have additional traffic and sales. You may even find local sellers offering something you may be interested in.
There are a lot of good finds in Craigslist and many online sellers have purchased on Craigslist to turn around and offer it on eBay and other auction sites.
