Markus Frind is the creator of PlentyofFish dot com . His story is interesting; he created the site to practice what he learned on programming. He decided creating a dating site would allow him to use his knowledge and challenge him to learn and implement new tools to his site.
If you have an adSense account with Google, you may already know of his success story. He created a site offering a FREE Dating Service. To this date, the site is Membership Free and generates around $900,000.00 a month.
Now, this might not work for most of you, but it should serve as an inspirational success story. Each one of us is capable of creating a website or blog and earning a living from it.

He definitely got in at the right time. It would not be impossible to what Markus did, but it would have to be totally original. Just goes to show that hard work does pay off. I know he busted his fanny getting that site up and running, but it was well worth it.

@ Faisal Admar – actually, adsense is easier than let’s say affiliates. It really would vary from site to site. Send some traffic to your site. Try placings ads on Free classifieds and see what happens.
@Stephen – I agree with you, Markus had to placed hundreds of hours to get off and running. Following your interest and sticking to it should do it.
Of course the recipe is a bit more complex.

i am a beginner in monetizing my blog with Adsense. i still need to learn more about the tips and tricks on Adsense. hopefully i might be able to earn a decent amount of cash on Adsense.
Adsense is my main source of income when making money online. nothing beats adsense when it comes to making money online.
i don’t think its possible to generate that kind of money today, is the post out dated? google lowered their payments recently, but its a good old adult website, i used to hang there and look for a date

I suppose making money long term from Adsense comes down to ranking highly in competitive industries. If your website ranks highly for non competitive keywords, then that will determine your per click earnings.

I actually used pof and enjoyed it. The fact that it is free does appeal to many because the other sites want you to put up your first born. Ha ha!
