MM – Suzanne Vegas “Tom’s Diner”

MM – Suzanne Vegas “Tom’s Diner” had this tune on my mind the whole week. Nothing really special about it, its just one of those tunes that get stuck and you can’t shake it off. So I decided to share it, lol… Its been a very busy week. Tons to share and will as soon……
Lyrics:
Toms Diner by Suzanne Vega
I am sitting
In the morning
At the diner
On the corner
I am waiting
At the counter
For the man
To pour the coffee
And he fills it
Only halfway
And before
I even argue
He is looking
Out the window
At somebody
Coming in
“It is always
Nice to see you”
Says the man
Behind the counter
To the woman
Who has come in
She is shaking
Her umbrella
And I look
The other way
As they are kissing Their hellos
I’m pretending
Not to see them
Instead
I pour the milk
I open
Up the paper
There’s a story
Of an actor
Who had died
While he was drinking
It was no one
I had heard of
And I’m turning
To the horoscope
And looking
For the funnies
When I’m feeling
Someone watching me
And so
I raise my head
There’s a woman
On the outside
Looking inside
Does she see me?
No she does not
Really see me
Cause she sees
Her own reflection
And I’m trying
Not to notice
That she’s hitching
Up her skirt
And while she’s
Straightening her stockings
Her hair
Is getting wet
Oh, this rain
It will continue
Through the morning
As I’m listening
To the bells
Of the cathedral
I am thinking
Of your voice…
And of the midnight picnic
Once upon a time
Before the rain began…
I finish up my coffee
It’s time to catch the train

Great lyrics and impressive acting. I can see some neat facial expressions which are not that easy to do spontaneously. Good craft totally. Time spent on this video is remarkable.
The girl looks just like my friend’s daughter. Just an FYI, you have her last name as Vegas instead of Vega.
[...] Rock to this 80s throwback. [...]
Nice acting and video to such fascinating bassy and groovy song

Great lyrics, it’s possible to make any kind of song with these one’s, do you agree?
Great that lyrics is so simple but if you just take a while and think about them, you can actually see the truth behind them, love and just a wonderful story.

I found the same thing! I was flicking through the music channels and this was on and I left it on while I checked dinner and I was humming it for the rest of the evening. It’s not a bad song and it’s not particularly great either but it really does get stuck in your head.
Great lyrics!
Tom’s diner is a down home song everyone can relate to.
