I Sell Online

Submitted by whateverebay on August 10, 2009 – 5:27 pm3 Comments

This summer has been extremely busy……. yet lucrative. For those of you that continue to ask “what it is I sell online?”. Same question  I am ask by friends, newbies and those stuck in a slump.  So I decided to write a quick post about what I sell Online and offer you CSN Stores as an example.

I firmly believe that we all create our own limitations and we are all capable of reaching whatever our vision of success is. I have been away from my blogs by choice. My main source of income are sales and I do get monthly checks and deposits from various blogs and niche stores and once in a while from some  consulting work. No doubt that having my kids around full time and having to home-school does take up a huge chunk of time; I would not have it any other way.

-For all newbies I do recommend that you sell whatever you have in your home or take a chance go to a Name Brand Outlet and buy a few items to resell.

-For all check your competitors in your niche.

-Constantly search for deals for items to resell on ebay, overstock etc…

At this time I only sell Brand New Items and 60% of what I offer can be dropped shipped. My sales are now at an average of $195k-$250k per month. Now that I have an office/warehouse – I am able to stock my items, inspect and repackage as well as to accept returns. I started early this year with 1 assistant and now have 4 full time employees and 2 part time. I will be hiring 3 more full time employees in the next few weeks to prepare for the Holiday rush.

So what do I sell online? :)   We are able to offer anywhere from stickers to appliances, apparel, beauty and a load of home decor and such. The variety is certainly a key component of my success and I know that I have the potential to generate a lot more in sales; however, I am not ready for that load just yet. Keeping my overhead cost low is offering my items on my own websites and selling in sites outside eBay, such as Amazon, eCrater and Overstock etc… (see my post on “Where to Sell Online”). Using the Social Networks to let everyone know that you are there.

The best example at this time I can offer you is CSN Stores. I follow them closely as they do offer many of the brands I carry. CSN Stores has 200 specialty websites bringing them $200 Million in Sales a year with 4oo employees.  Even in this economy they are making a profit. You might find many similarities between CSN Stores and Zappos.

Recently a local news station did a report on CSN Stores. Definitely worth your time to watch. Here is the link http://www.thebostonchannel.com/video/19379296/

FYI: I will be sharing with you what has worked for me recently to increase traffic and sales. Has your online business experience a growth? What has your online experience been like n this economy?

Sounds like you are busting out and I’m so happy to hear it! GREAT for you!

I’m still thinking about going that route, but my niche stores are keeping me busy as ever! Hopefully someday soon I can take a really hard look at CSN and get with you on some things!
