Google Marketplace Policies Changes

Submitted by whateverebay on September 8, 2009 – 2:40 pmOne Comment

Google Marketplace Changes to take effect on December 1st, 2009. Google announced New Policies for Marketplaces & Aggregators on Google Product Search.  Google will introduce multi-client accounts to help marketplaces manage (control) feeds for multiple sellers under a single account.

….The multi-client accounts allow aggregators and marketplaces to consolidate and manage data feeds and reporting for sub-accounts, submit changes more rapidly, and get more accurate Google Checkout badging at the seller level……..individual sellers on marketplaces no longer need to submit a feed to Google Product Search. To avoid duplicate listings we will be notifying individual sellers and retiring their accounts.

Make sure the marketplace where you offer your products complies with Googles’ multi-client account aggregated feed you should be fine. Time to clean up your inventory and make sure listings do comply with Googles’  marketplace Policies….

Google Marketplace Policies:

  • Sub-accounts that are not compliant will be deactivated, and excessive deactivations will lead to deactivation of the parent account. Examples:
  • Items requiring a method of payment that lacks buyer protection, such as money order or wire transfer, are not allowed.
  • All item data must be kept current. Changes in item information should be submitted to Google Base within 24 hours.
  • Promotional text such as “free shipping” or “lowest price guaranteed” are not allowed in titles and descriptions.
  • Items such as vehicles, event tickets, and service listings are not allowed in the “Products” item type.
  • Listings for counterfeit goods, fraudulent listings, and illegal items are prohibited.
  • Duplicate offers within the same account, or between separate accounts that you control, are not allowed.
