Thursday – Questions & Answer

Selecting the questions for today’s post was entertaining. Some questions are questionable. I recommend to always do your homework and not to try to find the easy “quick” way to make money online.

Question:  Do you think opening a ProStores at eBay is a good thing?

A:  There are rumors that ProStores may be going south. I would not recommend to open one at this time. You can create your own website and offer PayPal. ProStores offer you all the tools to use the PayPal shopping cart which is what made it appealing. Keep Google Checkout in mind, if you are not able to obtain your own Merchant Account.

Question:  What other sites can I place Free Ads to get traffic to my store?

A:  You are doing great using Craigslist, you can also look into Backpage, Kijiji, OLX and other sites you can here under Free Classifieds. You can also look into participating in Social Media and comment on Commerce, entertainment sites….etc….

Question:  What software do you use to manage your eBay sales?

A:   Actually, I use Excel. I down load the CVS file and input into an Excel Sheet. This allows me to use in Access and add loads of forms. I will post a sample soon.

Question:  I have an eBay account, what can I sell to make quick money?

A:  It takes hard-work to be a successful online seller. Even if you find thee “Hot Item”, being a new seller, eBay will have questions and so will PayPal. eBay and PayPal will place limitations on new accounts and ask for proof of delivery. Not just submitting proof of shipment but they will also request verification from the Buyers.

Thursday’s Question and Answer

This week simply flew by. So many things to do and blog about. My time is being consumed with increased sales. I have two new online stores I am working on and will be offering you the information on one of them to follow. I am carefully deciding where to list and how. As well as the payment options that I will accept.

Here are Thursday’s Question and Answer………

Q:  UPS delivered to my customer a package with a vase damaged. I have filed the claim with them refunded my customer and today UPS response is the claim will not be paid due to insufficient packaging. What can I do?

A: You can appeal the decision. Provide them with details about your packaging practices. Refer to UPS packaging guidelines. Most claims are denied initially. Make sure you are using corrugating boxes, peanuts or popcorn and let them know. Double boxing is highly recommended for fragile items. Point out if you in fact marked the box Fragile / Handle w/ Care. You can also request a copy of the inspectors report for your review.

Q:  Do you sell on eBay? Do you like eBay?

A: I do sell on eBay; I will list only when I have the time to dedicate to sales. Keep in mind selling on eBay can give your website or blog good exposure, when using the services they offer properly. I like the exposure and amount of leads obtain from eBay. I find that eBay has a lot of potential and can overcome the slump they are in. I do not like selling only on eBay.

Q:  FedEx is charging me for Duty for a shipment sent to Canada. How can I make sure the buyer pays? FedEx delivered to them without collection the Duty first.

A:  FedEx is simply trying to collect and if they cannot from your buyer they will invoice you. Unfortunately, they are entitled to collect from you. If you are not able to get a hold of the buyer; you should settle the invoice with FedEx. The last thing you want is for this to go to collections. I know that UPS offers you the option to pay the Duty directly. For any shipments sent outside the USA I would recommend that you obtain a quotation first and invoice the Buyer directly. Work directly with your shipper to guide you to obtain accurate quotes. You also do not want to have to pay additional Fees’ if you do not ship out the package on time or any of the Fees are raised.

Q: Can you recommend material to learn about blogging?

A: I would recommend one blogger. I find him to have the best information out there, is well known for his success blogging as well as for his contribution to the blogosphere. A good place to start is with Darren Rowse aka Problogger.

Inbox Question & Answer Day

Reading the questions is a lot of fun. Some are fun interesting and simply give me so many more ideas on Topics to blog about and others blogs that I could possibly start. Ask anything you want and visit every Thursday for the Q&A.

Q: What is search engine and search engine optimization?

A: A Search Engine is a site such as Google, Yahoo, MSN that allow you to search the internet. Search Engine Optimization is when you have a website or blog and want to have the Search Engines pick up your information for others to view. When you work on your website or blog you want to focus on content, keywords, links and images. Doing so the it would be considered Search Engine Optimization.

Q: I blog about products my friends and I use at home. What Affiliate can you recommend for us to start with?

A: Many pay companies can pay you for product reviews. Should keep that in mind. For an Affiliate program I would recommend Link Share. They offer you are large variety of campaigns, support and you can get on board in a short time. You can also follow them on Twitter.

Q: How often should I blog?

A: You can blog as often as you want. It is recommend that you blog daily and preferably several times a day. If you just started out, try 3 post a week. Gradually grow from there. What I have learned about blogging is that frequency and quality are huge factors. The search engines are searching constantly for new content. The more often you blog the better exposure and raw traffic that is sent to you. Posting for you should be fun and if you only find yourself posting once a week, then go for it. I am sure gradually you will develop your own posting rhythm.

Q: Can you blog from your phone?

A: I do not. You can create video from your phone and upload to YouTube. I personally have not.

Q: How much money does Perez Hilton make blogging?

A: I would like to know the answer to that. Below is a video of his appearance last year on Martha Stewart.

Blogging from a cell phone… Have any of you blog from your iPhone or cell. Can you submit a blog from a cell phone?

Selling on eBay Questions & Answers

I have received many emails with many of the questions similar to one another. I am only posting the question, keeping personal information private, if you have additional questions please keep sending them in. I will respond to the questions every Thursday on my blog. Q: My account has been limited on eBay and PayPal. How can I open another Paypal account?

A: First of all, you need to have any issues with both eBay and PayPal resolved. I do not suggest that you continue to sell without resolution. If you have tried to resolve all issue or have resolved them and they will not reinstate your account. They only way for you to have another eBay and PayPal account would be to ask someone you know to open the account for you. Open the PayPal account as a business. Keep in mind that PayPal will again and can limit your account due to the lack of history. Ultimately, your goal should be to have sold on eBay for at least 6 months with a good track record to avoid lengthy limitations. Q: Sales are slow on eBay, where can I list my items that would provide the same traffic as eBay?

A: Amazon. From my sales at Amazon and others that I know, Amazon is the alternative marketplace to eBay. They are a bit more expensive, payments are processed through them and the listings system is not like eBay. However, they provide you with Customer Service support, high traffic and many tools to help you analyze your competition.

Q: How can I get images to appear larger on my listings?

A: You can accomplish this several ways. On eBay you can pay a fee for a larger image to appear during search. For larger images inside your template you can insert the HTML code from photobucket or where it is you host the images. You can indicate to link on the image for Larger or you can simply just insert the image at 600×600 pxls.

Q: My account with eBay was suspended. The email said it was found to be related with another suspended user……………….?

A: This has happened to me in the past. I worked for a large volume seller that sold on eBay. One of the employees’ there also had her own account selling on eBay. She apparently logged in from the companies computers to check her emails, auctions and PayPal account. When she started having problems in her personal life, so did her eBay account. Eventually, eBay suspended her account. A few days later my employers account was suspended.

The reason offered was the employees account was delinquent and had several complaints for Non Shipment.

First, ask eBay for the information of whom they are associating you account with. Find out who has used your computer or ISP to log into their accounts. You best bet, is to contact your Account Manager with eBay and ask for help.

From now on, once this is resolved. Do not allow anyone to log in using your Computer or Internet. If you have employees; it would be best to post it on the wall as a reminder and have them agree in the Employment Agreement.
