eBay and Jonathan Adler Partner to Open “the eBay Inspiration Shop” – 24/7 Shoppable Storefront Powered Exclusively by eBay Mobile

eBay, the world’s largest online marketplace and a leader in mobile commerce, and designer Jonathan Adler today open The eBay Inspiration Shop – a 24/7 shoppable storefront in New York City showcasing a collection of new, must-have merchandise for the fall season. The “always-open” store windows enable shoppers to browse and buy the very moment inspiration strikes, leveraging eBay’s mobile technology to shop anytime, anywhere, anyhow.

Top trendsetters, including actors, designers, bloggers, stylists, editors, photographers, models and musicians, were tapped to help curate the items featured in the windows by sharing their shopping wish lists for fall. The incredible items represent what’s on their minds this season across Fashion, Motors and Electronics – from denim to digital cameras, engines to eReaders, and wrist watches to new wheels. Adler’s iconic prints and patterns – reimagined in eBay’s signature colors – serve as the merchandising milieu for the featured inventory.

Shoppers are invited to download the eBay app to scan custom Quick Response (QR) codes and shop similar items — available new and now — from more than 200 million listings on the eBay marketplace. The installation reinforces the shopping experience on eBay today: 62 percent of all listings are fixed price and 70 percent are new products. eBay’s suite of mobile applications have been downloaded nearly 50 million times, with three purchases made every second through mobile, showing a strong demand for shopping on the go.

Contributors to the eBay Inspiration Shop include Andrea Linett, Betsey Johnson, Catherine Malandrino, Charlotte Ronson, Chelsea Leyland, Coco Rocha, David Kiley, Jean Jennings, Jen Rade, Justin Bell, Lake Bell, Liz Lange, Matt Buchanan, Matt DeLorenzo, Michael Fink, Molly Sims, Myles Kovacs, Peter Rojas, Phil Oh, Ray Wert, Rebecca Minkoff, Rebecca Weinberg, Scott Steinberg, Simon Doonan, Steven Kolb, Summer Krecke, Trina Turk and Zem Joaquin.

eBay Expands Instant Sale Program to Offer Consumers Cash for Broken Devices

eBay today announced that its Instant Sale program, one of the most competitive electronics recycling programs on the market, is offering new, limited-time pricing for broken or damaged iPods, iPhones and iPads, offering consumers more value for their broken gadgets than ever before in celebration of Earth Month. Additionally, eBay will offer every user that sends in their device – broken or not – a bonus $5 eBay gift card and a matching $5 donation to Global Green USA®.

The new promotion represents a unique offering within the trade-in market and a rare opportunity for consumers to get cash for gadgets that would otherwise have little to no value. Through April 30, eBay Instant Sale will begin paying up to $150 for broken iPads, $100 for iPhones, and $50 for iPods. Until now, Instant Sale offered free shipping and responsible recycling for all broken items, but limited cash value. This new offer, coupled with a $5 gift card and matching donation for each transaction*, adds considerable incentive for consumers to trade in their gadgets through the program.

Since the inception of the program in October 2010, more than 3.3 million trade-in offers have been generated for everything from iPhones and iPads to laptop computers to camcorders and digital cameras. Most popular devices to date, include smartphones, tablets and mp3 players.

“We are thrilled with the momentum that the Instant Sale trade-in platform has seen on eBay since last Fall – both from a business and an environmental perspective,” said Gregory Boutte, Vice President of Hard Goods for eBay Marketplaces. “In a short period of time, we have established ourselves as a leading destination for consumers looking for great value for their electronics. This Earth Day, we are looking to double down on that value by offering our customers even more cash incentive for using Instant Sale and ensuring their devices get responsibly recycled.”

The eBay Instant Sale program was developed and incubated in eBay’s sustainability and social innovation team in 2010 and has since become one of the company’s marquee sustainability programs. From an environmental perspective, the program offers a compelling engine for reuse and recycling, and gives eBay and its customers the opportunity to address the mounting e-waste problem head-on. According to a recent study, 40% of Instant Sale users felt the program encouraged them to be more environmentally conscious.

eBay today released an infographic that translates the trade-in activity on Instant Sale into carbon savings.

eBay Inc. Launches The Opportunity Project, a Global Social Innovation Initiative

eBay Inc. today announced the launch of The Opportunity Project, a global social innovation initiative designed to support and help scale market-based approaches to providing economic opportunity in vulnerable, impoverished communities. Powered by eBay Foundation, The Opportunity Project’s first investment is $250,000 in social venture capital to five innovative market-based solutions. Recipients will be selected through a global competition in collaboration with Ashoka’s Changemakers, one of the world’s most robust spaces for launching, discussing, and funding ideas to solve the world’s most pressing social problems.

“For more than 15 years, eBay has been fostering economic opportunity by providing millions of people the chance to build online businesses and participate in the global economy,” said John Donahoe, President and Chief Executive Officer, eBay, Inc. “The Opportunity Project extends our belief in creating opportunity and making a difference in the world by supporting social innovations in vulnerable communities. We hope The Opportunity Project can help scale market-based solutions that benefit families and strengthen communities through economic empowerment.”

eBay Foundation and Ashoka’s Changemakers today are launching an online global competition to find the most innovative solutions.

The competition, Powering Economic Opportunity: Create a World that Works, will recognize social entrepreneurs who are creating economic opportunity through increased access to restricted job markets, disruptive innovations in job creation or skills building, connections between local entrepreneurs and global markets, or systems to promote awareness of job opportunities.

Entries to the competition will be accepted until 5PM EDT on June 15, 2011. Through Ashoka’s Changemakers website, anyone who registers with the site will be able to comment on applications and vote on the best. Ten finalists will be determined by online voting. An expert panel of judges selected by The Opportunity Project and Ashoka’s Changemakers will then evaluate the ten finalists, and select five winners. Each winner will receive a cash prize of US $50,000. Winners will be announced September 14, 2011.

In addition to the cash awards, The Opportunity Project will explore with recipient organizations other ways in which eBay may help support and scale their innovative ideas. The Opportunity Project also intends to forge other partnerships with organizations like Ashoka and engage in collaborative approaches to building participation in the global economy, including matching eBay employees worldwide with these nonprofit organizations through a skills-based volunteer program.

BizAuctions Retail-Outlet Store Lucky 7′s Sales on Pace for Record Month in March

BizAuctions, Inc. (Pink Sheets: BZCN), a prime provider of commercial eBay and Amazon liquidation services for excess inventories, overstocks, and returns, announced today that sales for the month of March are on pace to set a new monthly record.

Delmar Janovec, BizAuctions’ CEO, comments, “BizAuctions-Lucky 7′s Retail-Outlet store sales for the first fifteen (15) days of March are at $48,123. Based upon the sales trend since the opening of the Retail-Outlet store in August of 2010, and sales through the 15th of this month, I anticipate seeing March sales exceeding $90,000 for the month. This could result in an increase of $9,492 or 11% over February sales of $80,508, and an increase of $74,123 or approximately 467% over August sales of $15,877, the opening month of the Retail-Outlet store. The BizAuctions-Lucky 7′s business model continues to make significant progress due to our loyal and growing customer base and advertising in CUPOMANIA, a Hispanic advertising publication that has over 7,000 subscribers in the local communities of Otay Mesa, San Ysidro, and San Diego. Our customers are extremely satisfied in being able to shop for the variety of name brand merchandise that is available in clothing, general merchandise, appliances, household items, and electronics such as Sony, Toshiba, Samsung, Vizio, and Panasonic; Maytag, and Whirlpool appliances; and Polo, Ralph Lauren, Lucky & Buffalo jeans, O’Neill and PING sports apparel and other name brands, all at affordable prices that are significantly below retail. Based upon our current trend in sales, I expect to see many more record months for BizAuctions-Lucky 7′s Retail-Outlet store in this calendar year, 2011.” (For photos of our current Retail-Outlet Store, please view the attached link at: http://www.bizauctions.com/outlet/.)

“BizAuctions closed its retail store in the Chula Vista Center, last year, in anticipation of opening a new larger location in the San Ysidro area, with the ability to sell an expanded array of merchandise under the name of “Lucky 7′s Outlet,” in order to sell its name brand higher-end clothing such as Polo, Ralph Lauren, Buffalo and Lucky jeans, Ed Hardy shirts, PING sports apparel, O’Neill, and other name brands, general merchandise, and electronics such as Sony, Samsung, Toshiba, Panasonic and Vizio, that will generally bring higher retail prices at Lucky 7′s Outlet versus its customary eBay and Amazon business platforms. We are continuing to work with the landlord on the finalization of the lease terms and anticipate a store opening in mid to late April, upon the completion of the tenant improvements,” noted CEO, Janovec.

BizAuctions’ clients have included some of the Nation’s leading retail names at the forefront of their industries.  With a long-term strategy to provide eBay liquidation services to Fortune 1000 enterprises, BizAuctions is a clear and lucrative solution for most any business to liquidate excess inventory on eBay and Amazon platforms.

Avoid Pitfalls of Leading Auction and Shopping Sites with 7four

The two most popular online eCommerce websites, Craigslist and eBay, have their strengths – but also weaknesses. As an antidote to those shortcomings, 7four has emerged as a new way to buy, sell and trade online.

7four is an online marketplace resource that stresses the recycling of products for trade while also providing an opportunity to sell and buy goods. It’s free to browse, free to join as a member and virtually free to post items. The colorful, cheerful graphics on the site support its mission to provide an enjoyable eCommerce environment. There are no “hiccups” or hidden charges in using 7four – it’s purposefully straightforward and upfront in its approach.

“In developing 7four, I’ve addressed all the pitfalls and inconveniences that other auction and shopping sites present, and the result is a much more vibrant, efficient and cost-effective portal,” says Lawrence Smith, 7four’s founder. “From the visual design to the technical aspects of how 7four operates, from posting to searching to the point of transaction – everything is seamless, user-friendly and super-simple. I’ve also worked hard to guarantee a no-gimmick eCommerce atmosphere and include special incentives to excite and motivate people to use 7four.”

7four shares some features with eBay and Craigslist – notably, the site prohibits adult ads, it’s free to post many types of advertisements, and there are member services and a blog. However, a few key differentiators on 7four.com include:

  • a one-time $5 fee for automobiles for a 30-day posting period;
  • no fees or upcharges on all other items for either posting or selling;
  • payment choices, including PayPal or e-mailing the seller directly to make arrangements;
  • rewards for those posting automobile ads, whereby at every 100,000th post, the seller receives $1,000 as an incentive for posting on the site;
  • greater attention to the user’s online experience, enhanced with colorful, dynamic graphics carefully balanced with a clutter- and commercial-free website.

Technology Start-Up Announces Application to Help Affiliates and Merchants Leverage Localization Trends

LuckyLocal.com , a free consumer site which lets shoppers research products on-line and pick them up locally, today announced an application program interface (API) to seamlessly enable hyper-local & affiliate network sites to help shoppers research a purchase online and conveniently pick it up locally.

Lucky Local has been developing the technology for the past year to provide affiliates with access to product information, pricing comparisons and real-time inventory availability so they can cater to the growing consumer demand for hyper-local content and services. The API facilitates integration and generates and tracks commissions for both e-commerce and local in-store sales. It supports the company’s goal of extending its local search functionality by enrolling thousands of affiliate and hyper-local sites. This strategy contrasts that of Milo.com, a competitor recently acquired by e-Bay.

“We have been focused on technology and product development since our inception,” said Dov Herman, LuckyLocal.com’s Founder and CEO. “This is a major milestone and a stepping stone for us to build out our affiliate and merchant networks. Our focus for the next 3 months will be to roll out the API and raise capital to support phase 2 of our plan.”

The company, backed by an angel investor, plans to aggressively raise capital to accelerate its business plan in order to take advantage of opportunities created by the intersection of hyper-localization and e-commerce.

Lucky Local search technology can be used by any affiliate, hyper-local website or mobile application to create local shopping websites and incremental revenue streams. Affiliates and Merchants interested in learning more should contact affiliates@luckylocal.com.

New Ford eBay Motors Online Store Will Offer Global Reach for Licensed Merchandise

A new online store launched by Ford Motor Company on eBay Motors will provide enthusiasts around the world with access to the items they want in one convenient place.

The redesigned website, www.store.ford.com, now provides access to an eBay Motors online store that offers products at a stated price for customers shopping on the U.S. version of the eBay site. In the coming months, links to more and more global eBay Motors stores will be added, and each online store will reflect the vehicles and brands that are most popular in its corresponding region.

“eBay Motors involvement gives us the power to reach customers around the world,” said Regina Watson, Ford licensing manager. “We’re taking a global approach to our online store, and truly integrating various parts of the world. So no matter where you live, as long as you can access the eBay site, you can see what products are available for sale.”

Besides the convenience factor, the store offers plenty of merchandise to satisfy Ford enthusiasts worldwide.

“Ford is a 100-year-old iconic brand that resonates with our most die-hard automotive enthusiast,” said Famous Rhodes, director, parts and accessories, eBay Motors. “This opportunity opens up everything Ford, from pool tables to clothing for our enthusiasts to express their love for the Ford brand.”

To power the store, Ford partnered with ChannelAdvisor, a software and services provider that helps retailers sell through multiple online channels. Through ChannelAdvisor’s eBay management platform, Ford’s official licensees’ products will be aggregated in one store on eBay, unifying a typically fragmented market to improve the shopping experience and product selection for buyers of Ford merchandise.

In the future, Ford hopes to keep adding more products to the site to make it one-stop shopping for Ford fans.

“Our goal is to become a hub for all items that Ford enthusiasts would want to buy – including restoration parts and vintage shop manuals,” said Watson.

Action at SEMA

To help celebrate the launch of the website, a pool table shaped like a Mustang will be on display on the Ford stand and available for auction Nov. 2-5 at the SEMA show. All proceeds from the auction will benefit JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation).

The Mustang pool table is molded from a 1965 Mustang and comes complete with working lights, alloy rims and wheels and chrome decals, bumpers and hardware. A professional billiard player will even be on hand all week to show off just how much fun the table can be.

Did eBay help customer steal from Seller?

For two weeks now, I have been following the case of an eBay seller that lost $1,295.00 plus the furniture and shipping making his total loss of $1,995.00.

Transaction:
-Seller sold a bed with storage drawers for $1,295.00 including shipping.
-Buyer received bed with out storage drawers / contacted seller
-Seller made arrangements to ship the storage unit the following day
-Sent confirmation to Buyer

(in the meantime)

–Once the information was relayed to the Buyer of the shipment, the buyer contacted eBay and opened a claim of Item Not Received.
–Seller responded, accepted claim and informed eBay that storage was to ship that following day.

However, after the SELLER spoke to the claims department over at eBay, SELLER did not feel that the BUYER was honest. SELLER had responded and replied in a timely manner to the Buyer and provided Buyer with shipping information. The BUYER failed to acknowledge any of it.

The SELLER asked eBay to have the BUYER return the bed for a full refund. The representative over at eBay insisted the SELLER should ship the storage and once the signature was provided of delivery to the BUYER -  SELLER  would GET the FUNDS BACK.

A few days passed, finally the storage arrived and signature was obtained. The BUYER failed to close the claim as had stated in an email to the SELLER. Instead the BUYER escalated the claim and demanded a FULL REFUND claiming that the item was NOT AS DESCRIBED.

SELLER accepted to receive the entire bed with storage. HOWEVER, eBay DID NOT ask or DEMAND that the BUYER return the entire BED. Instead eBay ONLY sent the BUYER ONE label for 150lbs box.

SELLER advised eBay that bed itself weighed 450lbs plus the 150 lbs for the storage. eBay IGNORED SELLER and ADVISED SELLER to wait and eBay would ONLY reimburse BUYER for the storage unit. At this point SELLER had no choice but to accept.

TWO weeks later, eBay has issued a FULL Refund in the amount of $1,295.00 to the BUYER!

Seller has spoke to at least 5 representatives in the CLAIMS office of eBay, each provided a different information and made false promises. The SELLER is OUT the BED, Storage, Shipping and to top it off $1,295.00 PLUS a FEE imposed by eBay called CREDIT CARD FEE.

When running a business, you should make room for the those transaction that just do not work out. Call it a loss, file it as such in your taxes and move on.

I cannot help to see that eBay facilitated the BUYER to steal from the SELLER.

Do you think eBay helped customer steal from Seller?
